About Me.
I am in my early 60s and have a diverse background. I spent 15 years in the US Army, enlisting the day after high school, and primarily served in Airborne, Ranger, and Special Operations units. This early experience significantly shaped my worldview, ethics, and values, which, alongside lessons from my childhood, have guided me throughout my life. After leaving the military in the mid-1990's I attended the University of Washington, where I studied various subjects, including the earth sciences—focusing on atmospheric sciences, hydrology, and oceanography—economics, and entrepreneurship. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Atmospheric Sciences in 1995 and 1998, respectively, concentrating on numerical weather prediction and hydrological forecasting. Following a few years as a research scientist at the University of Washington, I founded my first company, 3TIER, in 2001. The company specialized in renewable energy forecasting and assessment, and I worked there for a decade before departing in early 2011. Since then, I have founded or co-founded several companies and have recently shifted my focus to mentoring and education. My interests span a wide range including geosciences, Artificial Intelligence, leadership, ethics, flying (I am an IFR-certified pilot), international travel, world history, and geopolitical risk. I feel that my life experiences, education, and interests have led me to this moment, and I believe my insights could be valuable as the world appears to be heading toward a darker period.
